Class Experience

Students will learn about the history of video game music and the composers who make video game music as a career. Students will also learn the difference between background music and dynamic audio in order to create their own music for a video game of their choice.
I am a certified K-12 music educator, and I studied instrumental music education in college. I took courses on composition, general music, and video game music in order to be able to teach these subjects.
This course will not require any physical materials, but students will need access to at least one of the following websites: SoundTrap, BandLab, or GarageBand for MacOS (not IOS). Students will need an account for both SoundTrap and BandLab.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
At the end of the course, students are encouraged to share their creation with the class.

Accounts will be needed for an online digital audio workstation (SoundTrap or BandLab). This course will mention several video game references, but no violent or questionable footage will be shown or tolerated.
