Let's learn how to code using Scratch! Each week we will design a video game using popular video game characters, see schedule below. Flex courses are pre-recorded classes you can take on your own time, whenever it fits best in your schedule! Flex courses work especially well for coding because you can pause or go back at any time, and work at your own pace. Each class is designed for students who are familiar with Scratch. If you have not used Scratch before our flex course for level 1 can be found here: https://outschool.com/classes/video-game-coding-club-flex-course-d6n0P9yX#usO6qkJXAA In level 2 students will move beyond the basics of Scratch, and learn more complicated skills like using variables, creating their own backgrounds, building games with paths, and using messages. In this class you will need a computer and a web browser open to https://scratch.mit.edu/. Please create a username and password before class starts so you can save the project we create. We will not be using Scratch Jr. or any apps in this class. This class works best if taken using two screens so students can easily see the teacher's screen and their own, but one screen will work too. Each week a new recorded class will be released on Mondays. Students are encouraged to share the link to their final game in the classroom. Other students can view and comment on each other's games, and check out how other student's code differs from theirs. If student's need help they can send a message to the instructor for further assistance.
