1 hour per week. After each class, I will try to post what we learned on the classroom wall and a brief description of what each feature is or where to find it. Students may choose to practice after class. This isn't mandatory, but an option for students who want to practice to improve their video editing skills.Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner Level
During this weekly, ongoing class, students will learn how to edit videos using a free program called Davinci Resolve. ⚠️ Note: This class requires the program Davinci Resolve. The program can be downloaded for free online. The students do not need the paid version. I don't have the paid version and I cannot use the paid version's features. Students will also need either a Mac, Windows, or Linux operating system. The students must have these tools to follow along with the instruction. They will need to have the program already downloaded onto their computer. Please check device compatibility and test the software before class to make sure it works. I have Davinci Resolve 19. If you have an older version, it may look slightly different, but I will do my best to accomodate. Although, if you don't have the current version, you may not have all the features that I have. So, you may want to consider taking an update. During the class, we will socialize and talk about video creation and video editing. We will not actually film videos, but we will edit them together. Because we are not filming videos, the students will need to film prior to coming to class. If the students do not want to use their own footage, they can find stock videos free online by going to pexels.com This class does require patience as it can be difficult to video edit and, if problems arise, students will have to take turns asking questions and showing me their screens so I can help each student. Students don't need to have prior knowledge of Davinci Resolve, as I will be showing them a detailed insight to my video editing process, using the Davinci Resolve program. Students can join this class at any point without getting lost. I will provide each student with a video and a diagram of Davinci Resolve. The diagram will help students understand the different sections of Davinci Resolve and it will help them navigate it. Before the students start the class they should watch the video to understand how to get started. This will help the class run smoothly and will help students set up the program before entering the class. This way, students can enter the class at any time and not be lost. The class content will be learner directed. We will cover whichever topics the students need help on. We will all be working on our own projects and I will demonstrate how to use the software and help when needed. At first, students may be following step-by-step, but eventually, once the students get used to the software, the class can be used as a dedicated space and time to work on video editing with someone there to help, if needed. Since all the students are all working on their own separte projects you can enter and leave the class at any point without getting lost. I can reiterate content that's already been learned by other students and the students who already know what to do can just continue working on their projects. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out. Students will have the option to share parts of their videos during class, if they want to. I will be using a webcam (face) and a screenshare from my computer to share my video editing process on Davinci Resolve. Students may be muted if there is a lot of background noise or if other students are talking. Please show them how to unmute themselves when they are ready to talk. Thanks! ⚠️ Note: If I don't have a day or time that works for you, please reach out and I'll see what I can do. Thanks!
Learning Goals
My goal for this class is to not only teach the students how to use Davinci Resolve, but to also give the students practice and techniques to improve their video editing skills on a regular basis. Practice = progress. My hope is to help the students to eventually be able to edit videos on their own and to help them have a better understanding of the software.

Master's Degree in Education from Austin Peay State University
Hi everyone! I am super excited to have the opportunity to teach your children on Outschool. I love teaching online. It is such a great opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people.
Before I talk about myself, I want to mention that if you want to take one of my classes, but you don't see a time or date that works for you, please reach out and message me and I'll see what I can do to accommodate you and your child. Also, if I'm not teaching an age-range you should reach out as well. I'm friendly and I try my best to be fair and accommodating, so let me know if there's something I can do to help!
I have an Associate's in Liberal Arts. I have a B.A. in Foreign Language, with a specialization in French. I have a minor in creative writing. I also have a M.A.Ed. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), as well as a certification in TESOL. I received all of my degrees from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. I have a wide variety of experiences.
Even though I enjoy all of these subjects (French, English, creative writing, etc.), I have another passion and that is art. I have been doing art for as long as I can remember and I have taken many classes in art as well. I think that learning should be fun, interactive, and exciting and I hope to bring all of these things to the classroom. I am always super passionate about my art and even have started getting a following on social media for it. I would love to share my passion for art and creativity in the classroom!
Besides teaching, I mainly spend my days doing art and crafts, imagine that! I also love to penpal, make Youtube videos, and spend time with my husband and my dog.
I hope to see all of you in class! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. And thank you for stopping by.
