Class Experience

In this course students will learn through direct discussion as well as short demonstrations. Video editing is an art form unto itself. It is also an artistic practice. The more you do it, the better you become. Mood Films are a great way to practice video editing. They are also a great way to express yourself creatively and then share that expression. Mood Films can also allow for a deeper exploration of thoughts and feelings so being familiar with them and able to create them can be a healthy space for self reflection and processing.

Course agenda:
- Brief introductions
- What is a Mood Film? Discussion and examples
- A brief discussion of Editing as an artistic practice (make art with intent)
- Software: what we need to get the job done
- Pre-production (we'll talk about mood, expression, and how to translate that into visuals)
- Pulling clips (we'll take a look at Pexels.com and begin to curate what we need to create our films)
- Demonstration: Organizing and importing clips to edit in iMovie (though students can use whatever editing software is available to them)
- Demonstration: Editing full film
Finishing up, exporting, and a discussion of ways to share our film.
