Description
Class Experience
In this class we will be covering beliefs in Victorian folklore: legends, fairytales, urban legends, ghost stories, and supernatural creatures. Our stories focus primarily on England during the mid-to-late 1800s; during the reign of Queen Victoria. We will read contemporary accounts of ghosts and fairies from this period. Additionally, we will explore the factual basis behind the stories and the reasons why they were created. The class is taught in a lecture style with a Google slideshow....
This class is taught in English.
Students will improve upon their knowledge of Victorian Era beliefs.
I have a Masters degree in Early European history and I have been teaching for several years. I am also the Director of A Victorian Ghost Story Museum and I have done several lectures on the Victorian Era and its supernatural beliefs.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Class will discuss ghost stories and death. The urban legends have one story that involves death through strangulation and a man who shreds people's clothing.
