In this class we will be covering beliefs in Victorian folklore: legends, fairytales, urban legends, ghost stories, and supernatural creatures. Our stories focus primarily on England during the mid-to-late 1800s; during the reign of Queen Victoria. We will read contemporary accounts of ghosts and fairies from this period. Additionally, we will explore the factual basis behind the stories and the reasons why they were created. The class is taught in a lecture style with a Google slideshow. All period documents are printed on the screen for easy reading. No additional materials are needed by the students.
