Class experience
Intermediate - Advanced Level
Learners will have fun reading veterinary case studies and testing their veterinary knowledge using the “Be the Vet” Book Series (Book 1). This will be the first class in this series with classes on books 2 and 3 following. Using the “Be the Vet” Book Series book #1, learners will read the case studies (chapters/stories) and follow along with the story of each pet’s visit to the vet. I have been a certified veterinary technician for more than 30 years, have a MEd from Colorado State University and I am now finishing up my second Master’s program and will have a Master of Veterinary Education (MVEd) from Lincoln Memorial University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in May 2024. I have been teaching at local colleges in veterinary Assistant Programs and an equine studies program. I have also enjoyed teaching a variety of Veterinary Science programs for grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school summer programs in person and online. I am also a homeschool mom! At home, my family has 3 mini horses, a Paint horse, 4 Nigerian dwarf goats, 9 chickens and 2 cats! I am passionate about sharing my experience and love for animals and veterinary medicine with all learners from diverse backgrounds from all around the world! If your learner has a dream to be a veterinary professional, then I am excited to help them on this first step!
Homework Offered
Learners are expected to read and come to class ready to discuss the cases of the week. All reading is done PRIOR to class, beginning with week 2.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Learners will be required to purchase or borrow the book “Be the Vet 7 Dog and Cat Stories. Test Your Veterinary Knowledge” (book 1) by Dr Ed Blesy and Marcy Blesy. This book will be used each week throughout the course as at home reading to prepare for the class.
