Description
Class Experience
Becoming a veterinarian is high on the list of future careers for so many learners which is so exciting! This course will be a fun way for them to explore a variety of topics with a different focus each week. The animal types will vary and the lesson and activity will be based on that topic. Class will begin with a lesson/discussion on the topic and then we will begin an activity. I have been a certified veterinarytechnician for more than 30 years, have a MEd and have been teaching at local community colleges in veterinary assistant programs and a variety of vet science programs for grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school for over 13 years. I also teach at a private university in an Equine Studies program. I am a homeschool mom! At home, my family has 3 mini horses, a Paint horse, 5 Nigerian dwarf goats, 9 chickens and 3 cats! I am passionate about sharing my experience and love for animals and veterinary science with all learners who are interested! I enjoy having a diverse and inclusive group of learners from all over, from all backgrounds!
Supplies list will be added to the classroom the week prior to class. If there are any handouts, those will also be posted in the classroom. Activities are will be about 1/2 the class time, but since these are relatively short classes, the project may not be completed by the end of class. Learners are encouraged to finish the project at home, and share a photo of their work in the online classroom after they compete it. If supplies are not available for your learner that week, they are more than welcome to come to class to learn and discuss the topic anyway!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
