This is a one day class to learn about the history of Veterans Day.
Class experience
An excellent class about why we celebrate Veterans Day: this lesson includes the history of Veterans Day. Students must critically think about what it means to thank our veterans by listing freedoms they have because of veterans. Students will write things they can do to thank veterans and give examples of veterans' qualities. Further, students can list ways to honor veterans. The students will learn the history of Veterans Day, listing freedoms we have today because of our veterans, ways they can thank veterans, qualities veterans have, and what they can do to honor veterans. We will discuss why Britain, Canada, Australia and France also observe this day. I will present short biographies of veterans: men, women, African American (Charles McGee (Tuskegee Airman), Asian American (Hazel Ying Lee), and Hispanic-American (Angel Mendez) . The lesson also covers US flag etiquette.
