2-4 hours per week. Practice is essential for students' success in this course! Learners will be expected to complete individual practice assignments and contribute to the group activities. Students should expect to spend 2-3 hours every week completing the class assignments.Class Experience
The ukulele is a four-string instrument that is loved by many and mastered by few! You'll love learning basic ukulele technique, chords, and history in this four week Flex Class. We will learn how to play and perform a melody and chord progression on ukulele, how to read tablature for ukulele, how to recognize the parts of the ukulele, how to hold and tune the ukulele, and the history of the ukulele... ... by using pre-recorded video lessons, worksheets, listening exercises, and games. Each week will have video lessons with additional lessons on the history of the ukulele, listening exercises, and more! WEEK 1 Lesson 1 - Parts of the ukulele, how to hold the ukulele, counting the strings Lesson 2 - Counting the frets, making a note on the frets, and single string songs Group activity: This week we will compete against each other in a Kahoot! to see who can recognize the parts of the ukulele. WEEK 2 Lesson 3 - Tuning the ukulele Lesson 4 - How to read TAB for the ukulele (playing melodies on more than a single string) Group activity: Learners will be asked to use the Outschool classroom to share a video or audio of themselves performing a single string or TAB song. WEEK 3 Lesson 5 - Chords! (Harmony) Lesson 6 - Rhythms and Strumming Patterns Group activity: This week we will compete against each other in a Kahoot! to see who can recognize chords based on their chord diagrams. WEEK 4 Lesson 7 - Lead sheets and How to find music that you love to play Lesson 8 - Chords and Melody of a class song

Parental Guidance
Parents may need to assist students in using the outside resources such as Kahoot!, and YouTube. Parents may also need to assist students in tuning ukuleles before practice.
Supply List
Students must own their own ukulele to participate. A clip on tuner or the GuitarTuna app is also recommended.
