1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this "Vivacious Verbs" class, students will be taught the role of verbs in English language. This class will be an hour long and broken into a few different segments. Those segments are as followed: 1: Fun starter question 2: Student input about what they already know 3: Verb break down and description (along with class discussion) 4: Interactive chart making as a visual during lecture 5: Worksheet #1 - Categorizing verbs by their tenses 6: Worksheet #2 - Identifying verb and verb tense in given sentences 7: Worksheet #3 - Writing a five-sentence story using one verb tense I will teach using a white board so that I can stay visible to the students as much as possible. This is very important to me as I want to be as interactive as I can with the students. My class will always start with a starter question that helps me and the other students get to know each other as well as feel more comfortable in the class. Then we will move into the lecture which will be mixed with many discussion questions to see what the students know. This also helps me determine what I need to spend more time on. After our initial discussion, the students will be engaging in hands on worksheets to demonstrate their understanding. This one-time class only focuses on verbs so even if your student has minimal background knowledge, they will have no trouble following along.
Learning Goals
Students will feel more confident in using verbs in their writing and everyday speech.
