Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In this class, we will be working with verbs!

Learners will be asked to list verbs after discussing the definition of a verb. Verbs will be sorted by the group into Past, Present, or Future tenses.

Learners will work independently using the verb bank created by the class to write simple sentences using the same verb for each tense.

Group will reassemble and learners will share one sentence they wrote. The group will identify the verb used and its tense.

Hi there!

In the classroom, I taught first through fourth grades. My final year, I team taught and focused primarily on English Language Arts and Social Studies while my partner took on Math and Science. I enjoyed this set-up because I was able to dig deeper into my passion for reading and writing. My Masters Thesis was on Reading Engagement and I always try to instill a love for reading in my classroom. I also got to reach more children that year since we were sharing our classes.I ended up leaving the classroom to work in a non-profit, where I still got to work with kids of all ages (pre-school through high school), but also their parents, teachers, and community members.

A few years ago, my husband, son, and I moved to my husband's native country, Canada. Now that our son is in high school, I feel it is a good time to return to my teaching roots. I love the idea of teaching online rather than in the classroom because I can meet and work with kids from all over!

Moving to Quebec from California was a bit of a shock. I had to learn how to shovel snow and walk down an icy driveway. We share our home with a 12 year old husky mix, a one year old lab mix, and a box turtle of an undetermined age (but she's at least 32 years old, since that's how long I have had her). I love to travel and explore new places. When I can't travel, I try to play tourist at home and enjoy visiting new to me places in our area. In the Fall and early Summer, I enjoy hiking with the dogs and the occasional bike ride. In the Winter, I try to ski at least once and will take the dogs snow-shoeing.

If you see a class that interests you but that doesn't fit with your schedule, please don't hesitate to reach out! I can have some flexibility with scheduling when made aware of timing preferences.
