In the animal kingdom, there are many defensive adaptations and abilities that creatures can use to protect themselves from predators. In this class, we will be focusing on two creatures that lack backbones but have a unique surprise for animals that choose to threaten them. In this class, we will discuss: 1) Octopuses 2) Cone Snails ***While we will learn about the venom of these creatures, we will be spending majority of the class discussing these creatures in a more general way....
Learners will learn things such as behaviour, diet, and fascinating facts about octopuses and cone snails. In addition, we will learn the difference between poison and venom how these creatures use venom to hunt for their prey.
I have a strong passion for animals and have even worked at an aquarium before which had a giant pacific octopus. I love getting others excited about the animal kingdom and feel as though I can approach this topic with a lot of fun and excitement for the learners.
I will provide an (optional) handout that students can use for note taking if they would like to.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
