In the animal kingdom, there are many defensive adaptations and abilities that creatures can use to protect themselves from predators. In this class, we will be focusing on two creatures that lack backbones but have a unique surprise for animals that choose to threaten them. In this class, we will discuss: 1) Octopuses 2) Cone Snails ***While we will learn about the venom of these creatures, we will be spending majority of the class discussing these creatures in a more general way. Students will learn about behaviour, diet, and fascinating facts about these two amazing animals. This class will be more of a lecture style (yet interactive) class with a PowerPoint, photos, videos, and interesting facts. We will have conversations about these creatures and students are encouraged to ask questions and discuss (although are also welcome to just absorb the information if they prefer). --- This class is from a series called ‘Venomous Invertebrates’ that includes a trio of classes. I have a strong passion for animals and have even worked at an aquarium before which had a giant pacific octopus. I love getting others excited about the animal kingdom and feel as though I can approach this topic with a lot of fun and excitement for the learners.
