Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
In this ongoing class, the students will listen to non-fiction books to research two science or social studies topics, or look at and discuss photos of two science or social studies concepts. The students will then learn how to create their own VENN DIAGRAM. They will label each section. The students will then use the teacher led concepts as well as think of their own concepts from listening to the non-fiction research to compare and contrast. These words or phrases and drawings will be added to the VENN DIAGRAM.

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.

My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕

I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.

However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.

I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.

There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!

Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop an academic foundation and gain academic confidence with a love of learning. Your child will be a life time reader!

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child and further a passion for learning!
