This Vegan Holiday Cookie Baking Class is the perfect way for kids ages 8-13 to learn the art of vegan baking while creating delicious dairy-free, egg-free, and plant-based cookies that are perfect for the holiday season. Whether your child is new to vegan recipes or has some baking experience, this hands-on class will introduce them to plant based desserts. This class is part of a series we’re holding across the holiday season focusing on making different vegan cookies, and teaching kids how to use plant-based ingredients like vegan butter, egg replacers, and chocolate. In this specific class, we will be making Candy Cane Cookies. Students will follow along as we guide them through the cookie-baking process step-by-step, from mixing the dough to shaping, baking, and decorating their vegan treats. While the cookies bake, we’ll share fun facts and general baking tips. This baking workshop is more than just a cooking class—it's a fun, interactive experience where learners can engage with the instructor and other students in real-time. They’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, share their baking successes, and get feedback as they make delicious vegan desserts from scratch. We will occasionally be using oven, stove top, microwave, electric appliances (such as mixers or hand-held beaters), scissors, and knives during class. Parental supervision is recommended. Allergen Information: Wheat, Soy, Almonds.

INGREDIENTS: [All ingredients are vegan alternatives] ¼ C. shortening and ¼ c. butter ½ c. powdered sugar 1/8 c. silken tofu ¾ tsp. almond extract ½ tsp. vanilla extract/paste 1 ¼ c. flour +flour for rolling out cookies ½ tsp. salt Red food coloring (natural coloring such as those made from beet and powdered tends to be darker when mixed) Crushed candy cane MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT: Mixing bowl - 2 Hand or stand mixer w/ bowl or food processor (if using hand mixer, set butter out 15 minutes before class. Also, keep in mind, a hand mixer may not thoroughly mix the ingredients like a food processor or stand mixer so results may vary. A food processor is the preferred equipment for these cookies.) Measuring cups and spoons Spatula Cookie sheet Parchment paper - 2 Pancake flipper/baking spatula Cooling rack Oven mitts Timer Plastic wrap or plate to cover mixing bowl Mini chopper to crush candy cane

This course is taught by an experienced vegan baker and parent/homeschool teacher emeritus with 15 years experience overseeing their child's learning. This includes administering small group learning to students from home, public, and private schooling from ages 8 to 14 years old. They have been a professional vegan baker, and are excited to share vegan baking tips and tricks.
