Don't you just love sunflowers? Sunflowers are a happy flower and make the day brighter. In this class learners will enjoy using scissors and tearing paper to create artwork using construction paper. After our welcome and get to know you time, we will go over the materials list to make sure everyone has what they need for the class. I will ask the class about what they know about texture and if anyone is familiar with Vincent Van Gogh. We will discuss what texture is and how Van Gogh used it in his painting. With permission the book ‘Camille and the Sunflowers’ will be read to find out why did Vincent paint the sunflowers. Next, step by step the learners will be instructed on how to build a composition inspired by Van Gogh by layering and creating texture. The learner can volunteer to hold up their finish piece to share with the class. -Learners need to be able to use scissors on their own and be able to write their name -During the class learners will interact by answering questions, sharing their previous art knowledge, and sharing their progress along the way. Every piece of art will be unique and wonderful. I look forward to having a joyous class full of sunflowers.
