What's included

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Every week, learners will create a short audio or video of themselves (they can use the "add video" button in the classroom) saying the vocabulary words or singing the Spanish song and share it with other learners. They can also complete each week's coloring page and worksheet at home and share it on the discussion board.
Assessment
I will watch each learner's videos and share encouraging comments!

Class Experience

Want to:
- Give your learner valuable exposure to introductory Spanish sounds, phrases, and songs on your own schedule?
- Reduce "Zoom fatigue" through multiple modes of learning on and offline: educational videos, audio, writing, movement, flashcards, and coloring pages?
- Help "hook" your learner to the magic of Spanish in an engaging and comfortable format (especially ideal for shy learners, students apprehensive to speak in live classes, etc.)?

In this flex class, your learner will "travel" to Colombia (with some cultural components embedded within the material) and learn simple Spanish words, sounds, and phrases that they can sing and act out in Spanish!

*** This class is part of my semester Spanish for kids flex class here: https://outschool.com/classes/flex-class-semester-of-beginner-spanish-for-kids-Vueojekc#usMfkJtBHa

NOTE: This class has NO live meetings and follows a "flexible schedule format", allowing learners to work at any time during each designated week and for the duration of the course. I can always be reached through the Outschool classroom and through messaging on Outschool throughout the course.

This flex class is best suited for learners with little to no Spanish knowledge OR for learners who could benefit from a review of the content below. As the content is standardized, please message me if you are unsure if this class is best suited for your learner’s level.

I’ve written original lyrics to popular nursery rhymes that will stick in your learner’s head and help them remember Spanish vocabulary and pronunciation. The course content is as follows:

Week 1: "My name is ____.", "Nice to meet you", the vowel sounds "A, E, I, O, U" (enrichment: a sample vocabulary word for each vowel)
Week 2: "hello", "goodbye", "cat", "monkey", "1, 2, 3" (enrichment: His/her/its name is ______.)
Week 3: "good morning", "good afternoon", "good evening", "I will sleep" (enrichment: the Colombian flag colors)
Week 4: "bear", "how are you?", "(I’m) well, and you?"

Each week, learners will receive:
1. 2-3 videos: Engaging educational video(s) of me teaching week's content and song (with props and digital effects) that encourages students to repeat and participate
2. Printable Flashcards: While learners should act out the movements they see on screen while the songs are playing, the flashcards can be used to help them review and practice at home!
3. 2-3 Coloring Pages/Worksheets: Learners can listen to the lesson video/song and practice repeating and singing while they complete the worksheets
4. A "cheat sheet" of all the week's content in a virtual "classroom"

Student interaction: Every week, learners will create a short audio or video of themselves saying the vocabulary words or singing the Spanish song (whichever they feel more comfortable with) and share it with other learners. Learners will be expected to watch the videos that classmates post and post a friendly comment on a fellow learner's video with parent assistance. I will also leave feedback on each video that is posted and assist with pronunciation as needed.

NOTE: Class materials are not full immersion and there will be some English used as needed. Almost all of the flashcards will be represented with pictures rather than direct translation, but the videos and classroom discussion will include some translation. The "cheat sheet" for each week contains translations for all of the content so that parents do not have to take notes!

In addition, students will get the chance to take pictures around their home and other prompts for learners to interact with the content and respond to each other for further student-to-student interaction!
