Valentine's Day~ Cut Hearts, Listen to Poetry, Create Four Different Cards
Practice cutting hearts and will create four different Valentine's Day cards to give away to someone they love or like. They will listen to some fun Valentine poems with an experienced educator.

Day 1: Let's cut hearts. Name Heart card Day 2: Love Bug card Day 3: I Love You To Pieces card Day 4: Doggy Love card In this four time class, the students will practice cutting paper hearts. They will follow directions to fold their paper, draw a special shape, and cut carefully on that shape. It would be helpful if your child has a pile of 4X4 squares of paper ready before class so that they can practice cutting several times. These cut hearts will then be used to create four different cards/projects. The students will use scissors and glue and crayons or colored pencils to get creative. When the four time class is over, the students will have four beautiful cards to give to someone they love or like. Happy Valentine's Day!

Parental Guidance
The students may need supervision using scissors and glue.
Supply List
Students will need white paper, red and pink or any other colored paper, crayons, markers or colored pencils, scissors, glue. *It would be helpful if your learner also has a stack of paper cut into small (4X4) squares to practice cutting a lot of hearts.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
