Description
Class Experience
Student will come out of this class with basic kitchen safety. Student will master how to properly use kitchen tools and equipment. All students will come out of this class with a better understanding of Kitchen math and cookie decorating.
Equipment: handheld mixer or stand mixer. Two bowls one for dry ingredient one for wet ingredient, spatula, mixing spoon, measuring cups and spoons, plastic wrap or zip lock bag, Rolling pin and cookie cutters. Ingredients: 2 sticks of room temperature butter, 2 cups granulated white sugar, two large eggs, 1 teaspoon extract, 4 cups of flour (for gluten free students, 4 cups of Pillsberry gluten-free flour), 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Frosting: food coloring (your desired color), vanilla, 4 cups of powdered sugar, 4 tsp milk, small piping bag or Ziploc sandwich bags, and a whisk.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class may require some parent guidance as we will be using the oven and stand mixer or handheld mixer. We want to make sure that we are practicing kitchen safety at all times.
