Who doesn't love a party? In the classic 'class party' we'll celebrate Valentines Day with each other through crafts, games, and music. Kids are encouraged to bring themselves a fun snack to enjoy while we spend time together. We'll make and decorate paper party hats. Then we'll move on to creating some Valentines Day cards or artwork using simple wax resist techniques and water color paints. While our paintings dry we'll play a few fun rounds of Valentines themed Bingo. Students will be able to play Bingo either digitally using a separate device (such as a smart phone or tablet) or they may use printable Bingo sheets supplied in the classroom.
Learning Goals
Students will practice a few different creative techniques in their artwork.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I'm an avid reader, and an author.
I was never so surprised in all my life as when my son told me he "just wasn't into reading" and that he thought "writing was the worst part of school." I had to think quick before he missed out on all the magic that I knew was waiting for him within the pages of books.
And so family book club was born. And then books and friends, and soon my house was overflowing with reluctant readers bouncing up and down and waiting desperately to tell Miss Tammi all their favorite bits from last week's reading.
I have spent ten years coaxing children into eager readers and confident writers. I love to watch those smiles light up when they realize there is a whole hidden world inside of books. In that world they never need to try to fit in, or please other people. In that world they are welcomed, they are wanted, and they are inspired.
