In this one-time class, we'll use real candy hearts to practice counting using 1-to-1 correspondence for numbers 1-20. We'll develop skills for skip-counting, simple addition, sorting, patterning, and improve our math vocabulary!

In this one-time class we will use candy hearts to practice counting and developing number sense for numbers 1-20. We will be begin with an optional Valentine Share, where each learner will be greeted and have the opportunity to share a Valentine decoration or item with the class. Following, we will practice counting our candy hearts using 1-to-1 correspondence from 1-20. Next we'll practice grouping by 10s, skip counting, sort our candy hearts by color, solve simple addition problems and...
Students will develop 1-to-1 correspondence counting, sorting, and simple addition skills. Students will learn and use key math vocabulary throughout class.
1 file available upon enrollmentYou will need: - Valentine Candy Heart Count printable worksheet (provided before class). - at least 20 Candy Hearts. - Crayons, markers or colored pencils for use during class. - (Optional) - Valentine's Day item to share with the class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
