In this one-time Valentine class, students will learn to draw a realistic hedgehog, rose, and letter (using soft pastel chalk).
Class experience
In this one-time drawing class, students will learn to draw a realistic Valentine portrait of a hedgehog, rose, and letter (using pastel chalk). Students are welcome to come to class with fun facts to share about hedgehogs or some of their favorite Valentine traditions! During class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged....
1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a hedgehog (full body). 2. Students will learn techniques for blending, applying, and layering pastel chalk. 3. Students will learn techniques to create saturated colors using pastel chalk. 4. Students will learn techniques to create poky texture of a hedgehog using pastel chalk. 5. Students will learn techniques for drawing a realistic rose using pastel chalk. 6. Students will learn a few facts about hedgehogs.
Homework Offered
Because of how detailed this drawing is, there is a good chance students will need to finish outside of the designated class time.Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.Grades Offered
1 file available upon enrollment-Paper -Everyday pencil or drawing pencils -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Blending tool (blending stumps, tissue, Q-tips, or you can just use your fingers if you don't have any of the previously listed supplies) -Soft pastel chalk: green, red, brown, tan, pink, black, white *OPTIONAL: black and/or white charcoal pencils, white gel pen (used for detail work), and any other colors students may want to use
