US Grade 9 - 12
Designed for all writing levels, students are simply asked to write their best and adhere to the general guidelines and forms of the daily writing exercise. Classes are designed to improve and enhance creativity, writing fluency, style, and mastery of language rather than focus on grammar, spelling, or other traditional writing conventions. Students are simply encouraged to get their thoughts and ideas from their mind to the page. Certain activities may also work to promote additional writing goals; however, the main goal is always to have fun while improving one's own writing ability. Writing tasks are creatively designed and informal; however, the skillset imbedded within them will also improve students' writing as a whole, both informal and formal. Students that struggle with writing will enjoy this course just as much as those students that love to write. The topics and exercises will vary, but they will be designed to be fun and will typically follow the same class format. Each day will begin with a simple greeting and introduction. This will be followed by a brief lesson and general instructions. Students will then write in accordance with activity as explained and is usually done so in a step-by-step guided format by the teacher. After completing the writing task, students will then share their work with the class in an open discussion format. This could be in terms of general feedback and constructive criticism or could be analytical by nature. We will write in every class. Some writing assignments may be longer than others. PLEASE NOTE: 1. This course is listed as once a week; however, courses and exercises will be different everyday allowing students to enroll in multiple classes a week if they would like. 2. The official course duration is 30 minutes; however, we will often go over that time. The writing activity will usually last about 30 minutes, after which we will spend time sharing and discussing student work and writing strategies. Students are free to leave at the conclusion of the 30 minutes, but are welcome and encouraged to stay longer should we go over time. This may not happen every session, but it frequently will, and I have allotted time in my schedule to accommodate for that.

Supply List
Students should have a dedicated writing journal. I encourage this to be a traditional book/paper journal of their choice, decorated if they wish, and containing nothing but their writing. It should be something that they are comfortable with. Students may write in pen, pencil, markers, crayons, etc. While I do encourage a traditional writing journal, I understand that some students are more comfortable typing, so I will reluctantly allow them to type if they prefer to do so.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
