45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, students will use their 5 senses to describe a topic. We will brainstorm ideas as a class, review how our 5 senses relate to writing and do a sample together. Students will pick a topic ( if they want to do a food item, they can bring that to class to help them), complete the graphic organizer with support and then write a paragraph. Sentence starters and examples are provided to help write their ideas into complete descriptive thoughts. The students will write their paragraph, draw a picture and we will end the class with sharing our writing. After class, I would love to see the students writing so you can upload it in a review or in a private message. I will respond back with feedback for every piece of writing shared. Also, I would love to see what you thought of my class by writing a review. If you have additional questions, please message me and I will respond promptly.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, my name is Meryl Blum and I look forward to teaching your child. I have been teaching for the past 15 years in public schools. I have taught elementary and high school special education both in a small group environment and push in support in the classrooms.
I have my Bachelors degree in elementary education with endorsements in reading and special education. I also have endorsements in ESL, middle school language arts and teacher leader. I have my Masters degree in Reading to be a reading specialist.
At Outschool, I will be teaching elementary students lessons in reading, writing and math that relate to common core standards. I also specialize in teaching helpful tech tips as well as study skills and strategies. I love teaching because I like helping students gain confidence in themselves as learners and individuals. I look forward to work with the families in Outschool soon.
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time outside, read books, watch reality tv shows, listen to music and bake. I also like to create projects on my Cricut.
