In this class, students will learn the structure of good storytelling and brainstorm with classmates to develop a concept for their next short film. Lesson Goals: --Students will learn about the three-act structure. --Students will learn the concept of low-budget filmmaking and how a good filmmaker works with what they already have. --Students will leave class with a story outline for their next short film. Class Breakdown: --This class will start with a worksheet that will help students get their creativity going and ideas flowing. --Then, we will discuss the importance of working with what you have as an independent filmmaker. --Students will watch a curated YouTube video on storytelling structure. --At the end of class, we will work on another worksheet that students will use to create a story outline for their next short film.

Parental Guidance
The videos used in this course are designed for students and beginner filmmakers. Rated PG.
Supply List
Students need to be seen on camera in class, so a webcam is required. Your child doesn't need to own a camera or smartphone--but it wouldn't hurt to bring one to class. Students should bring a pen and paper for the writing exercise.
