Class Experience

-Students will learn about various tools and techniques of writing including types and forms of writing, genre, setting, characters, and plot.
-Students will learn to brainstorm ideas, then expand on them.
-Students will learn to think about the audience and the goals of writing.
-Students will participate in several writing exercises, and interact with each other and me to discuss how to make writing better.
There is some homework. Some of it is classroom activities we began in class. There is generally at least one homework assignment each week, but they are fairly short.
*Always have some paper and writing instruments for each class. *Always make sure assignments are submitted before class. *Always check for printouts and have those in class. *Week 2, bring colored pencils
Throughout all classes, I will be giving feedback on how to improve their work to become better writers. I base my assessment on what I see. Did they turn in assignments on time? Did they participate in class? I can tell if they have put forth the effort, and I feel I make it easy. I do everything possible to help them understand and apply the things they are learning.

What this really means is that when I send that individual video to the student, I will comment on how they participated. I will let them know the things I thought they did well and what I feel they can use a little more practice on. I am honest, but not harsh in any way. I want this to be a class they have enjoyed. I also want them to remember me as a teacher that propels them forward to their goal by helping them learn and by being an honest but kind teacher.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
