Students will learn the basics to write a great paragraph. We will start with a pre-written outline to write a paragraph. Every great paragraph has a topic sentence, strong details, and a conclusion sentence. Descriptive and engaging writing requires strong verbs, vivid adjectives, and expressive adverbs. We will use a list of strong vocabulary to add enticing details. Students will collaborate together to use the details to create sentences and write the paragraph. By the end of class, the...
Students will learn to write a paragraph that is specific, descriptive, and engaging using a variety of strong vocabulary. Students will learn to include a topic sentence, details that support that topic, and a conclusion/clincher sentence that reflects the topic sentences and draws the paragraph to a concise end.
I have taught writing to many students over my 7 years of classroom teaching. I am a trained and registered writing teacher for the Institute for Excellence in Writing.
No homework. Students may choose to revise, edit, and rewrite the paragraph into a final copy after class.
Paper and pencil. I will supply a the outline mentioned in the description.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will have a complete paragraph by the end of class.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I am using the structure and style taught in the Institute for Excellence in Writing.
