Class Experience

In this class, students will learn to analyze stock market data using Python and the Pandas library through practical, hands-on coding sessions. We'll cover:

Key Topics:
- Python basics and Pandas fundamentals
- Loading and cleaning financial data
- Calculating key stock metrics (moving averages, returns, volatility)
- Building simple trading strategies
- Data visualization with matplotlib
- Basic statistical analysis

Class Structure:
Each session combines live coding demonstrations with guided practice. Students write and test their own code while receiving real-time feedback. I use interactive Jupyter notebooks that students can reference after class.

Teaching Approach:
- Live coding with step-by-step explanations
- Real-world examples using actual market data
- Individual attention during coding exercises
- Regular code reviews and troubleshooting
- Q&A throughout each session
- Optional homework assignments for additional practice

Students will spend about 60% of class time coding, 30% in interactive discussion, and 10% watching demonstrations. Class size is limited to ensure personalized attention.

Requirements:
- Basic computer skills
- No prior programming experience needed
- Computer with internet access
- Free Python installation (instructions provided)

By the end of the course, students will have built their own stock analysis tools and gained foundational skills in both programming and financial analysis.

Learning Goals
