Join me as we travel through the USA learning about two states per week. This will take us 25 weeks of learning together! We will learn a variety of facts about each state as we discuss and observe. Each class is taught with engaging questions, slideshows, videos, and audio clips, as well as plenty of student input. A printable cover(gray, blue, or pink), a USA map outline to be colored in as we learn about each state, and a fill-in-the-blank worksheet will be available for your learner...
Students will improve their understanding of the United States of America by being introduced to a variety of state facts and data. Students will improve their understanding of geography and map reading skills as they are introduced to locating each state we learn about.
I am a state-certified K-6 teacher with my BSE in elementary education as well as middle school social studies. I have also been to 45 of the 50 states through my years of exploration and travel. I have also taught close to 600 students with Outschool in my other geography classes.
No required homework, but printables will be available of a United States Fun Facts binder/notebook cover, a US map outline, and a weekly fill-in-the-blank page if the student chooses to make a book of facts. This is not required of students.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
A few sources that will be used in this class are the slideshows that I personally create using information from the internet. We will sometimes view very short clips from YouTube that the teacher has viewed and assured are appropriate for young children. These may be a song or a virtual tour.
