Students will immerse themselves into the symbols, songs, and well-known landmarks of the United States of America. Children will first explore what a symbol means, symbols they are familiar with (environmental print), and how we can use symbols to represent something else. This is a class designed for PreK (4) through 1st grade to give a foundation in US History and Geography at an age and grade appropriate level! Students will be able to verbalize what a symbol is. Students will be able to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Students will be able to sort between US symbols and non-symbols.
Ms. Chloe is a licensed teacher with qualifications in Elementary Education (1-6), Early Childhood Education (birth-age8), and Special Education (age 3-21).
Students will have one activity to do that pertains the weekly content. Example: Week 4- create a sculpture or drawing of someone you want to honor and celebrate. Create and post a video to the classroom wall telling who you chose, why, and describe your sculpture/drawing.
Students will receive the weekly supply list on each Monday; art supplies such as: white paper, construction paper, scissors, glue, crayons, sculpting clay and a paper plate, and toilet paper roll are slotted for use throughout the different sessions. Please see description for details. Weekly lists will be provided to learners.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parental guidance will be needed to navigate opening the videos from the provided playlist, posting to the classroom wall and with any supplemental activity.
