US Grade 4 - 6
Let us learn the geography of the United States. We will have fun learning about the 5 regions in the USA (Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, West, and Southwest). We will complete a USA booklet in class together. We will color and label maps, learn fun facts, and label the states and capitals for each region. We will have fun learning with many different engaging activities, using presentations, video clips, and lots of great discussions, as we complete our booklet. Students can also share pictures and information about the region they live (optional) with their classmates, and will begin to understand how each region is unique and different. We will wrap up the class learning a fun song to help us remember all 50 states. Students do not need any prior knowledge to be successful in this class. They may need to review the region maps after class, to truly learn all 50 states and capitals for the 5 regions. Week 1: The Northeast Region Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Week 2: The Southeast Region South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky and Louisiana. Week 3: Midwest Region Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Ohio Week 4 The West Region Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. Week 5: The Southwest Region Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas Review & 50 States Song
