Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7
This is an ongoing class that will learn about different U.S observances. They will vary between fun facts such as candy day to women’s history month.

The classes will be an overview lesson of the topic for the week which will be specified in the schedule. The lesson will have slides to be shown, but learners will be able to freely talk and ask questions.

The lesson will be posted in the classroom after the scheduled time. This way you can share with your friends more fun information! Great conversation starters.

The classes will be fun and unique. All learners are welcome to attend this laid back class while we learn fun observance days!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Tori Wilt, and I am from a small town in Central Pennsylvania. I am so happy you are here, and I look forward to getting to know each one of you!

My background is in mental health education and counseling. I have earned a bachelor's degree from Penn State University and a master's degree from Liberty University. My Master's Degree is in Human Services specializing in Health and Wellness. I, highly, value education and believe that there are all types of learners.

I have 20 years working with youth from the ages of 6-18. I worked in the mental health field for 15 years as a caseworker, counselor, and a clinical supervisor for youth and their families. I was the clinical supervisor for an intensive, outpatient, at-risk youth facility. I hold several trauma certifications.

Before Outschool, I taught as an English as a Second Online Language (TESOL), online teacher.

I also, successfully, home-schooled my son and daughter for 2 years.

I am a firm believer that learning should be enjoyable and when it is we retain more! It is important for young learners to develop skills they will utilize throughout their lifetime, regardless of their chosen career path.

As an educator, the social emotional (SEL) aspect of learning is something I highly value, especially in today's era of technology. Classrooms will be engaging, but also having an element of sensitivity to the students' level of online communication.

The classes I teach will allow students to learn the necessary social and emotional skills required for successful communication. Classes will include but not be limited to social skills, clarification of values, emotional regulation, manners, life skills, problem solving skills and appropriate behaviors that will aide youth through adolescence and adulthood. All of these skills will help students have increased self-esteem. Over the years, I have facilitated many classes and groups surrounding these topics.

I am a wife and mom of two children (ages 14 and 7) who keep me busy with their schedules. I really enjoy spending time running, traveling and going to the lake with my family. My husband and I run a small nonprofit, 501c3, for breast cancer survivors. I am a 9 year survivor, myself. I am very active within my community holding an elected position as well as volunteering my time at our local school and within the community. I, recently, began assisted coaching for our local junior high volleyball team.

The classes I have chosen to teach is not a comprehensive list of my abilities, so if there is a topic you are interested in please reach out. If it is within my scope, I am happy to consider it.

Happy learning!
