Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching U.S. History for six years, during which I have developed a robust understanding of the content, student needs, and effective instructional strategies to ensure success on the Texas End-of-Course (EOC) exam. Over the past four years, I have maintained a 90% passing rate on the EOC for my students, which speaks to the effectiveness of my teaching methods, student engagement, and overall preparation for the exam.
Content Mastery: Over the years, I’ve gained in-depth knowledge of U.S. history, spanning from the Reconstruction era (1877) to the 21st century. I have structured lessons that cover major historical periods, events, and figures, ensuring that all key concepts in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are addressed. I have experience teaching the essential topics including Reconstruction, Progressive Era, World Wars, Civil Rights Movements, and Modern U.S. History, while maintaining a focus on how these periods interconnect and shape modern America.
Effective EOC Test Preparation:
Strategic Test Prep: I have honed a variety of strategies specifically designed to prepare students for the format and content of the EOC exam. These strategies focus on critical thinking, time management, and test-taking techniques, particularly for multiple-choice questions, short-answer sections, and essays. I have used past EOC tests, practice exams, and mock tests to familiarize students with the structure and timing of the exam. This has proven invaluable in helping them feel confident and prepared. Through continuous formative assessments, I identify gaps in student understanding early, providing targeted interventions and personalized learning plans to improve performance.
