This class is a foundational course for students in elementary and middle school level. I am offering this to help students create a foundation of information for exploring US history. What makes me a great teacher of this class is my 5-years of experience teaching a similar course in a traditional classroom and my Bachelors of Science degree in History. I believe in creating an environment where students are involved in their learning. This is created in the activities that are included in the live class, as well as, the homework assignments created in between class meetings.
All curriculum materials will be provided by the teachers. Students will need a notebook or binder to keep notes, handouts, and foldables in. Students will need access to a printer to print out materials and handouts.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners' progress will be assessed by weekly participation, assignments submissions, and weekly quizzes. Grading (optional) Parents can indicate if they want their student(s) to receive a formal numerical grade or not. The course isn't dependent on grades, but it is available for parents who request it. After each section, is a short quiz that students can use to assess what they learned and what information they retained.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Near the end of this class, we will cover the Holocaust. This material is presented to students on an elementary/middle school content level.
