Description

Class Experience

The students will learn:
--about the history behind the Founding documents and major concepts surrounding them.
--the philosophies that influenced the Founders
--about the three branches of government
--rights and protections based on the Amendments to the Constitution
--citizenship and it's importance
I have taught US government since 2000 to middle and/or high school students. I am a certified Social Studies teacher and have attended several trainings on the US Government and our documents. I have done trainings through the Center for Civic Education, Liberty Funds, Gilder Lehrman, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
There will be homework assigned throughout the course. It is expected that the students will have to put in approximately 2-4 hours each week.
Kahoot.com; Webistes like the Center on Congress and iCivics; all of these will be provided when needed and are free to use.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If you want a grade, please be sure to let me know. I will grade all work that is not optional for additional learning.
No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
We will use the US Constitution, Amendments to the Consitution, Declaration of Independence, and other resources that will be provided throughout the class.
