US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner Level
In this fun self-paced geography class, students will learn about all 50 states and their capitals. As a self-paced class, this class will NOT meet live. I will post videos, which students will be able to watch on their own time. In the videos, they will learn the capital of each state, where each state is located in the US, and some fun facts, too! The focus is for students to remember the state capitals, but there will be some fun/extra info involved! In each of the first 5 videos, students will learn 10 states at a time, in alphabetical order. The 6th post will be reviewing/testing what they have learned over the prior 5 videos. I LOVE to travel! I have been to all 50 states, most of them several times! When I discuss each state, I will often include personal stories of when I visited the state. I highly encourage students to share their experiences as well! I love hearing about others' travels/adventures!! I will respond to any classroom comments within 24-48 business hours, for the first 6 weeks. Itinerary: Video 1: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia. Video 2: Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland. Video 3: Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Video 4: New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina. Video 5: South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. Post 6: By this point, students should remember all (or most) state capitals. They will get the opportunity to show off their knowledge and have all their hard work pay off! No prior knowledge of this topic is required for this class, just an interest in fun-learning.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Christine and I am a Colorado native. I have two awesome sons, who are 11 and 21. I love to travel, explore, learn and teach about nature! I have been to all 50 US states, about 22 countries and I can't wait to finally get to see the rest of the world!!
I have an Associate of Science, in geology, and a Bachelors in geography and environmental studies from the University of Colorado.
I have taught science, in a variety of settings, over the past 18 years. During that time, I also worked as a tour guide at a local commercial cave! Geology rocks isn't just a catchy pun, it's a passion! I teach a variety of geography and geology-related classes. My classes combine lots of interaction with hands-on learning. I find that most people retain more information through doing something than just reading about it.
