In this 4 week class meeting 2 times a week, we will visit the following cities along Mississippi's coastal area: 40 miles of Beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Waveland, Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport, Biloxi, D'Iberville, Ocean Springs, Gautier, Moss Point and Pascagoula and the Gulf islands National Seashore Islands: Petit Bois Island, Horn Island, East Ship Island, West Ship Island and Cat island. We will discuss some of the history of these cities and islands, as well as historic points. We will visit campgrounds, restaurants, fun attractions, beaches and so on. So much to see in such a little time. I use Google slides, lots of pictures and videos in this class. I suggest student take notes as I do play Jeopardy to reinforce what as been covered in class. I have lived in Costal Mississippi 3-4 months a year since 2018 and love the area. It is the best home away from home there is to be found. Day 1: Introduction to class, class expectations etc. A little history about the Mississippi Gulf, Top employment for area, etc. climate, economy Day 2: Bay St Louis and Pass Christian. Day 3: Long Beach and D'lberville Day 4 Gulfport - Ship Island Day 5: Biloxi- Deer Island, Day 6: Ocean Springs - Horn Island Day 7 : Gautier, Pascagoula and Moss Point Day 8 :Cat Island, Petit Bois Island, Round Island and Catchup time
Learning Goals
Students will learn some of the history of Mississippi, past and present. They will learn how Hurricane Katrina impacted this area and where the eye of Katrina passed through. They will also be exposed to recreational activities in the area and life in general on the Mississippi Costal area

I have lived in Costal Mississippi 3-4 months a year since 2018 and love the area. It is the best home away from home there is to be found. I also worked in the travel industry for over 20 years as well as being a Special EDucation teacher for over 20 years as well.
I currently teach multiple geography classes on Route 66, The Loneliest Highway in America, and the Midwest Region as well as Lighthouses Around Michigan.
