During this class, students will learn about the benefits of growing plants and how people are creative when gardening, especially in places where there isn't alot of space! We will hear a story that shows an example as to how New Yorkers were creative in turning an abandoned lot into a community garden and discuss the benefits of it. Then, we will brainstorm together to determine how we can garden in our homes and what materials we can use to help us. Our project will be to create...
This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to explain why gardening is important. Students will be collaborate to determine creative ways to start a garden in their homes. Students will use recycled materials to build their own planter.
- Recycled container ( bottle, jar, cup, etc.) ** Depending on your learners age and abilities, please help them acquire appropriate materials that they can work with.** - Art supplies to decorate container (glue, scissors, paper, stickers, etc.)
There will be no formal assessment for this course.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students may use scissors during the activity, so parental supervision is suggested.
