Hello & Welcome! 🌟 About Class 1) This course meets three times in one week. 2) Our first meeting of the week we will focus on phonics and new vocabulary. Students will learn key vocabulary which they will read in a story. They will learn phonics skills such as blending, encoding, and decoding in order to help them read and improve their fluency. We will learn these concepts through fun games and group activities so that students will be comfortable with each other and the teacher. 3) In...
ESL students will work on the following skills during this 3 day course: 1. Vocabulary - Students will increase their knowledge of new English vocabulary. 2. Phonics skills - Students will learn how to recognize different sounds and blend them in order to form words. They will also learn how to encode and decode words in order to help them read. 3. Reading skills- students will have the opportunity to read independently and work on their fluency. They will also learn how to answer questions and discuss a story. 4. Writing skills- Students will learn the 5-step writing process (brainstorm/prewrite, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing/presenting). During the writing process, students will learn how to write complete sentences with correct grammar. They will also learn how to write in a logical order so that their story makes sense to the reader.
🌟 About our Native English Teacher, Ms. Hayley Teacher Hayley is an American teacher who absolutely loves teaching and learning. She started her teaching journey in China in 2018 and fell in love. Since then, she has taught in Hong Kong and online. Teacher Hayley is certified in TEFL for 120 hours, however, she has also taken an additional 180 hours of TEFL courses and training. As her passion has grown, she has decided to pursue a master's degree in Education which she will receive in May of 2023. To stay in the learning mindset and understand the challenges of language learners, Teacher Hayley practices languages almost every day. She loves to practice Chinese (Mandarin), Italian, and Greek but has also learned words and phrases from many other languages. With these challenges in mind, Teacher Hayley loves creating fun classes that are easy to understand and useful for everyday life. She is looking forward to having you in her class!
Homework Offered
The last day of the course focuses on writing. If students do not complete writing their text during class they are welcome to submit their text to the teacher after class to receive additional guidance and feedback.Assessments Offered
