Are you a fashion lover? Do you want to design and create new clothes? This class will help you through the design process of creating new styles and fashions for your dolls – using simple dress making patterns and materials you can find around your home. Week 1: In this class, we will look at the role of a fashion designer and share our ideas for possible new fashion designs, suitable for 11.5” dolls (Barbie size). You will sketch out your ideas using downloadable templates – beginning to think about the materials you might use to create your designs. Week 2: In this lesson you will begin to create a skater skirt for your doll. You will work through the pattern cutting process and hand sew a simple skirt for your doll. You will be guided through each stage and the sewing process to create a unique new outfit for your doll. Week 3: In this lesson, you will repeat the design and sewing process to create a winter coat for your doll. You will be guided through each stage and encouraged to enhance the simple design by adding collars and pockets. Week 4: This lesson will see your doll transformed by designing and sewing a party dress. You will be guided through the process and supported to create an exciting new look for your doll and to ensure that they are the Belle of the Ball! Finally, you will share your thoughts about your creations and be guided where to find additional resources to help you create more complex designs for your doll. Please note: Classes may at times over run by 5-10 minutes if a student requires additional support. Students are of course, welcome to leave the classroom at the scheduled end time.
Learning Goals
Students will use simple sewing techniques to create easy sew clothes for their doll. This class is intended to be a social class, students are encouraged to share ideas and designs with each other.

I am a patient teacher and encourage all to fully participate in their learning. Every class aims for a 'can do' environment with students positively challenged throughout each session. Mistakes are embraced and rewarded by self-improvement and a growth in confidence. I have experience of teaching children with a range of differing needs, and aim to make all lessons as inclusive as they can be.
