Hawaii has a close place in my heart because, my husbands family is from there. We truly live the spirit of aloha through life and find Ohana in our every day. Students will start with introductions and a short warm-up that breaks down technical movements so they can be prepared for the dance routine. Beginner level jazz dance with some added funk will be taught. We will practice the routine several times and a video will be uploaded at the end of class for reference and practice. Practice...
Proper technique and names of movements will be taught during warm up to ensure proper application during the dance routine. Students will learn terminology, how a dance class is conducted and memorization skills through repetition, as well as, performance quality and personality through encouragement and example.
I have been a professional dancer and choreographer in Orlando, Florida for over 20 years. You could find me over at “Finding Nemo the Musical” or Universals “Grinchmas the musical.” Please see bio for more detailed information. I love teaching and I pride myself in engaging students in a natural way, allowing them to be themselves and working towards their progress in learning the proper terminology and techniques.
Practice makes progress!
Not much is needed for this class but, having space to move and the screen at eye level helps. Water should be available during breaks as well as a comfortable attire and footwear.
A learner is assessed by how well they focus, their energy towards the movements and their ability memorize terminology and dance steps. You will notice this more by their following classes, as we cannot expect perfection immediately.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please allow space for your learner to dance along with water nearby. Proper dance attire, comfortable clothing and footwear should be warm. Prep your technical devices ahead of time so your learner can see and hear the teacher and dance at your own risk.
