Unwholly: Book 2 of the Unwind Series by Neal Shusterman
Class experience
Continue with Conner, Risa, and Lev as they protect, defend, and sacrifice for other teens who are scheduled to be unwound. The characters show bravery and self-sacrifice to help others hide at The Graveyard, a place for unwinds to live out their teen years although they are on the unwind list. There is some violence...
Students will learn new vocabulary while enjoying the continuation of this trilogy, and we will talk about the big lessons of the book like bravery, value of an individual, and self-sacrifice. We will use connections to text, to other sources, and to real world experience as we evaluate this book.

There is some violence as the teens defend their camp hideaway, The Graveyard, but it is never explicit. From commonsensemedia.org: "There's a fair amount of violence in UnWholly, most notably an armed assault on a camp full of teens, a game of Russian Roulette, a brutal beating, and a couple of fatal shootings. A plane crash results in a significant number of casualties. The main conflict involves the involuntary harvesting of organs and tissue from teen donors, but that process is never described in any detail." There are a few romantic kisses, but romantic interludes stay clean.
