This ongoing workshop provides students with instruction and approaches to writing school essays that may include narrative, expository, descriptive, evaluative, or persuasive objectives. A series of strategies will be presented to level the learning field to include diverse learning styles, including diverse ways to organize the thought process through graphic organizers, brainstorming, free-writing, writer's journal, and more. I have been teaching writing for 30+ years in high schools and colleges. Within the scope of my teaching experience, I have taught developmental writing, composition, and research writing. To this end, I have worked with students on the continuum of the reluctant writer to advanced researcher.
Students will need to complete writing assignments as homework.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will receive a writing workshop packet prior to the first class meeting. This packet will be updated each week.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This class is appropriate for all middle school and high school students who may be assigned 5-paragraphs in multiple subjects.
