If you love history and mystery, this is the class for you! In this one time course, we will examine one of the greatest Civil War mysteries. Take on the role of historical detectives, analyze the evidence, and determine what really happened to the Sultana.

Class Experience

Students will improve and practice their analysis skills and writing skills in history.
I have taught topics in social sciences for over 13 years to young audiences. Through my years of experience as well as credentialing courses, I am well equipped in bringing history topics to young audiences at age appropriate levels.

Evaluation Conflicting Evidence Handout- printed out Evidence- Sultana Evidence - Printed out Something to write with- pen or pencil Something to write on- composition notebook or loose leaf paper.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is no assessment for this course. However, if students would like for me to grade and comment on their final product, they may send those to me for review and feedback.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some students might be sensitive to the subject since it does discuss an explosion which killed a large number of people. However, the focus of the activity is not on the deaths itself, rather what caused the explosion.
We will refer to "Evaluating Conflicting Evidence" handout as well as "Sultana Evidence" handout
