Description
Class Experience
Students will be able to read and analyze a work for meaning and content.
I am offering this class in response to a request. I love doing book studies and believe some works deserve to be savored. Finding meanings and making connections to students lives is best done through hands on experiences and rich language exposure in classic literature. I have experience with meeting diverse learning needs, including learning support and special education needs, both online and in traditional academic settings.
Students will read independently weekly. They will complete discussion questions weekly in their journals and classroom forum.
Teacher will provide weekly notes via PowerPoint. Students will need a plain digital or notebook style journal weekly. They will need access to the novel via digital media or hard copy paperback or hard back book ($5-10 USD).
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learner progress will be assessed through journal completion and participation in class discussions.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This class is appropriate for all ages listed. Some of the material including mention of illness, depression, family conflict and magic may be sensitive to some readers.
