Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome to Creative Chinese Club!
As a bilingual (English and Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese) learning designer, I combine my experience in online learning, foreign language acquisition, and cultural tourism to make learning Chinese fun, energetic and productive.
As a native Chinese speaker living in Europe, my first overseas internship was working as a summer camp counselor in New York State, USA. The experience to design and teach extra-curriculum activities for children in a cross-cultural environment was life-altering. It planted the seed for my passion in education.
After getting my MBA degree from Cambridge University, I didn’t go back to the management consulting industry where I had worked. Instead, I entered the online education industry. During my spare time, I completed a master’s degree in education technology from the University of British Columbia. My expertise is to design social learning and collaborative learning online.
While working with online language teachers to reach and teach cross-cultural students, I became fascinated with how children acquire a foreign language. My Outschool classes adopt some of the greatest concepts in language acquisition such as Pimsleur language learning methods.
Due to my hobby in cultural tourism, I organize interactive cultural storytelling experiences for families around the world (in-person and online). ‘Travelling’ together to seven continents (including Antarctica) constantly encourages me to explore new ways of learning and teaching. I am employing some of the tested methods (sensory learning, learning through magic) in my classes. As I believe, the best way to teach is to make children intrigued, interested, engaged, and invested in their learning journey.
Last but only least, I love feedback from my students and from my parents. That is the best way I can learn how I can support your children best.
