Postcard (PDF)Class Experience
In this one-time class, students will learn about the state of Michigan. My home state. I will teach each state's capital, its famous landmarks, the state's flag, bird, flower, name abbreviation, historical landmarks found in that state, and much more. I will begin by sharing three facts about the state of Michigan while the students try and figure out which state I am talking about based on the facts given. Once they figure out the state they'll be learning about I will continue to share fun and interesting facts regarding the state. For example, did you know Michigan has a floating post office? Students will also learn a bit about the state landscape, history, what built it's economy, locals today and fun places to visit in the state. Afterward, I will provide games, crafts, recipes, research prompts and worksheets to reinforce the information we learned. Some of the games we will play are Guess the state and Egg Carton Shake. At the end of the class students will earn a postcards (pdf form) for the state of Michigan. Can you collect all 50 states' postcards? I have traveled extensively around the U.S with my two children for the past eight years visiting 48 U.S States and many National Parks. I can't wait to travel virtually and share what I have learned along my way with you.

Hello, my name is Jacki, and I am thrilled that you have chosen me to be a part of your child's educational journey.
I have been a homeschooling mom for more than a decade and have taught other children, formally, in a classroom setting as well. I love to work with elementary-aged students in all subjects, including English, Science, Math, and History.
I have a passion for teaching! I believe that children learn best in a fun and entertaining environment, which is why you will often find me singing, dancing, and making a "fool" of myself.
I believe that every child is intelligent, it's my job, as a teacher, to bring that quality out into the open for everyone to see.
"Everybody is a genius. but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
-Albert Einstien
In my spare time, you will find me traveling the world with my family. We have been to 48 U.S states and plan to travel abroad soon. I'm always up for an adventure.
