🦄 Welcome to Unicorns and Rainbows Preschool Circle Time!

Let's go to Rainbow Island and meet some new friends! Join Princess Rainbow and me for lots of unicorn fun as we learn our ABCs and more. Each class will be set up as an engaging storyline where we will meet different characters, help them solve problems, and learn new concepts each time.
We will meet once a week to learn pre-literacy skills such as letter recognition, colors, feelings, and counting. We will learn about the Letters of the Day and identify words that begin with the Letters of the Day. We will sing songs, listen to stories, and do a creative, hands-on activity or craft at the end of each class.

This ongoing class is great for children preparing to start preschool or a fun way to review preschool concepts such as letter recognition before starting kindergarten.

*This ongoing course runs for 21 weeks, and then starts over again with the material repeating.
**All materials to print will be sent individually to each enrolled learner the day before or the day of class. If you are able to, please print the PDF files before class and bring crayons or markers as well as any craft supplies listed in the description for that week. We'll be using washable paint during arts and crafts time, so make sure to have an art smock or painting clothes available for your child as well!
Your child is also welcome to bring a favorite unicorn, princess, or stuffed animal friend to class for show and tell if you would like!
***Please note, as this class includes an arts and crafts time, we may go longer than 40 minutes depending on how long it takes to make the arts and crafts project. You are welcome to leave at 40 minutes if you need to, but are also welcome to stay longer to finish your craft project.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
*Parents should be nearby to help with the hands-on craft we will make at the end of class. (Parental supervision is recommended because we will be using scissors and the craft could be messy.) *Please provide your learner with a wide, open space for movement songs and/or activities in addition to table space for craft time. Note about the mute/unmute settings: Since this is a class for young learners, I will be using the mute/unmute button during class so that everyone can hear me and so that everyone gets a chance to speak in class. Before class, it would be helpful to either teach your child how to mute/unmute, have an adult nearby to mute/unmute for your child, or to change the settings so that the teacher can control the mute/unmute settings for your child.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! 😊

I'm Ms. Elizabeth, an early literacy and reading tutor for grades Pre-K through 2nd Grade. I also teach online preschool for ages 3-5 as well as art and reading/writing classes for ages 6-9.

My classes are fun, interactive, and highly engaging for young learners. I incorporate music, movement, stories, art, and hands-on learning activities for a holistic learning experience. I believe that a child-centric, play-based approach is best for young children as they learn.
I strive to create classes that spark my students' interests, engage with their curiosity, and inspire them to go even further in their learning. I love seeing my students get excited about reading, writing, creating, and exploring.

For my early reading tutoring classes, I follow the research-based science of reading principles, including teaching oral language, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading/language comprehension, and writing. I'm committed to helping your child learn the basic literacy skills they need to succeed in their reading journey. I use high-quality materials and individualize each tutoring lesson to fit your child's specific learning needs.

I've been teaching online for over 4 years. I began my teaching journey as an online ESL teacher, and then transitioned into teaching online preschool and early reading/writing classes.

I've been working with children for over 10 years as a babysitter, nanny, and tutor.

I have a Bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing. Currently, I'm working on getting an associate's degree in early childhood care and education.

In addition to teaching, I also write fiction for young adults.

I love spending time at home with my husband and our two kitty babies, Kiki and Teddy. Once in a while, you may get to see a kitty in class too!
