In this class students will learn with reference photos, step by step instruction, demonstration, and inquiry based questions. Students will interact with the teacher through video chat. The class will begin with an introduction to Hawaiian landscapes followed by instructions for how to create a landscape drawing. Students will learn how the horizon line creates space in a composition by separating the foreground from the background. Students will be shown how to look for and use geometric shapes as a foundation for drawing their unicorn. Students will explore different kinds of lines as they design waves, rocks and branches. Students will consider how and where to add detail in a composition.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about several elements of art while creating this drawing including line, shape, space and texture. Students will learn what defines a landscape. Students will learn about the principle of movement in a work of art.

The student needs plain white paper, pencil and eraser.
