US Grade Kindergarten - 3
In this class, students will read the Unicorn Diaries series before attending the class and will have a fantastic discussion about the story! These books are so much fun because they not only have text that is at about a 2nd grade reading level (It is OK to read the story to your student if you'd like) but the illustrations are phenomenal! The quality of the illustrations help to keep your reader engaged in the story while reading or listening. We will discuss what happened in the stories as well as how the stories relate to your student. We will complete an activity during the class or play a fun game! The schedule of books to be read will be: Week of 6/3: Bo's Magical New Friend Week of 6/10: Bo and the Dragon Pup Week of 6/17: Bo the Brave Week of 6/24: The Goblin Princess Week of 7/1: Bo and the Merbaby Week of 7/8: Storm on Snowbell Mountain Week of 7/15: The Missing Magic Week of 7/22: Welcome to Sparklegrove Week of 7/29: The Glitter Bug Students will have an opportunity to speak in front of the class about which parts of the story they liked the most and they will answer questions to relate the story to their own experiences. Students will be challenged to step into the characters' "shoes" and discuss how different characters feel and what motivated them. Students will have lots of fun while discussing wonderful books! Supply List
Students will need to purchase the books or get them from the library to read prior to class. The student can bring the book to class to help them answer discussion questions if needed.

Hello! My name is Stacey and I am a homeschooling mom of 4. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. I have seven years of online teaching experience teaching children online. I also have 15 years of experience counseling children and their families to cope with big feelings and helping them increase their communication skills. I also currently run 2 companies!
I became a homeschooling Mom to 3 of my 4 children in 2018 when my son was diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia. The school he attended was not able to teach him to read so I learned how to teach reading to him using Orton Gillingham techniques and curriculum. I have since taught many children to read by using movement, activities, and lots of fun! Learning to teach children to read has become one of my passions in life!
I believe that children learn best when they feel cared for and are having fun! When older children understand how the curriculum will help them in their everyday lives they are more likely to retain the information and become a partner in their own learning. This makes learning so much more interesting for the student. It's our job as parents and teachers to help your child understand how the topics they learn will help them today and in their future!
My other passion in life includes teaching students about personal finance. This is something I've been interested in since I was a teenager, and I hope to be able to teach as many students as possible about how to build wealth through budgeting and being mindful of their income and expenses. I am excited to share this knowledge with your students!
When I'm not in the classroom, I can usually be found reading a great book or lounging in my pool or on the beach. I live in sunny FL, about 10 minutes from the beach and we enjoy going often. So if you see me in class with a sunburned face, you know why!
