Understanding the Unit Circle is an essential part of Trigonometry and Precalculus. We will explore the patterns in the Unit Circle and make sense of the mathematics involved with it.

Assignments
1 hour per week. I will provide practice problems for each Lesson as well as a key for students to check their answers. I am also available to answer individual questions if needed.
Assessment
If the student requests an assessment, I will provide a cumulative assessment after the completion of all five lessons. The student will submit their responses and I will provide feedback and a letter grade for the assessment.

Before starting, you should be comfortable with the XY coordinate plane and plotting points. As you progress at your own pace, your instructor will be available to answer questions on the message board within 48 hours on weekdays. Get ready to see math in a whole new way!

Learning Goals

Students will be able to locate angles (in degrees and radians) on the Unit Circle.
Students will be able to list the values of all six trigonometric functions for each of the standard angles measures included on the Unit Circle.

Lesson 1:
Angles in Standard Position (Degrees), Coterminal Angles
 Positive And negative angles in standard position, degree measures, coterminal angles, reference angles 
Lesson 2:
Radians
 Radian measures for angles 
Lesson 3:
Cosine and Sine
 The Cosine and Sine function values for the standard angles included on the Unit Circle 
Lesson 4:
Tangent
 The Tangent function values for the standard angles included on the Unit Circle 

Other Details

Pre-Requisites
Students should have a basic understanding of the xy- coordinate plane and plotting points.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have taught high school mathematics for over 30 years.  After helping many students over the years learn about the Unit Circle, I can anticipate many of the questions they will have.  We will discuss the connections of their previous knowledge to the new material in a way that will help them make sense of all of the aspects of the Unit Circle.
